Gingerbread Cookie Recipe

My favorite thing to bake at Christmas time is ginger bread cookies! I love cookies and I love the spices used around Christmas time 🙂 My mom sent me this recipe and I’ve used it a few times before but I’m not sure where it came from haha

  • ¾ cups of butter
  • ½ cup of sugar
  • ½ cup brown of sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup of fancy molasses
  • 2 Tbsp. of white vinegar
  • 4-1/2 cups of flour
  • 2 Tsp. of ground ginger
  • 1 Tsp. of ground cinnamon
  • 1-1/2 Tsp. of baking soda
  • ¾ Tsp. of salt
  • ¼ Tsp. of ground cloves
  • ¼ Tsp. of ground allspice
  • ¼ Tsp. of ground nutmeg

Cream together butter and sugars then beat in the egg. Add molasses and vinegar and beat well. In a separate bowl add the next 8 ingredients together then add to the ingredients already beaten in about 4 or 5 portions so you don’t get flour blown up into your face. Once well combined divide into 4 and wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours. I usually leave for a day. Roll out the dough on lightly floured counter to about ¼” thick and cut with your desired cookie cutters. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 375F for about 8 minutes. Decorate as desired. This time I just bought some icing because I didn’t have time to make any so that part is up to you 🙂

I would love to know if you’re a pretty cookie type of person or if you just load up the icing. I’m a bit of both haha Let me know what you do!

Thank you for reading! Let me know if you make these and what your favorite thing to bake is around the holidays.
