Author

Susan Mallery is a #1 New York Times bestselling author of books that have been translated into 28 languages. Susan was published right out of accounting school however, it took 16 years and 74 books before she got on the bestseller list for the first time in 2008 and got her first book in the top 10 in 2015. She’s currently living in Washington State with her husband and pets.

Plot

After finding out Beth’s ex-husband is engaged she feels like she needs to get back out there, work on herself and make new friends. She makes a great new friend named Jana who ends up dating Beth’s brother Rick not knowing they were related. And to make it more of a family affair Beth starts dating Jana’s brother Teddi. But, when Beth finds out some news that could hurt Jana, Rick asks her to keep it a secret. Beth needs to decide if she protects her new friend or her brother.

My Review

Beach Vibes by Susan Mallery was a book I received for free on NetGalley but unfortunately it wasn’t a favorite of mine. There were a couple things just to do with the writing that I didn’t like. The first is that the book is written in third person. I personally don’t like books that write in third person because I feel like I can’t connect to the characters. I want to read what the character is thinking and feel their emotions, not read that she thought something. The second is that this book had the point of view of both Jana and Beth which is fine. I actually like multiple point of view books. The problem was that I read this as an audio book and it would switch back and forth between Jana and Beth so I got confused at who’s point of view it was on. I prefer designated chapters for multiple point of views to keep things clear and easy. As far as the story I think it was okay. I liked it, however, I found it a little predictable. I would give this book 2.5/5 stars. If you’re okay with third person books and the back and forth of the point of views it might be something you’d like. However, the synopsis gives away a lot so I would skip that and just jump right into the book.

And that’s the end of my Beach Vibes by Susan Mallery book review. If you read this book let me know in the comments what you thought of it. If you’re looking for other books to read check out these reviews: Ready Or NotBriar U Book Series, and The Perfect Rom-Com.
