Plot

Persophone Fraser’s favorite place in the world is Barry’s Bay where her family cottage was. But she hasn’t been back since she made the biggest mistake of her life over a decade ago. But one day she receives a call that brings her back immediately. For six summers Percy and Sam Florek become inseparable best friends. That friendship eventually turned into something more before it falls apart.

When Percy returns to the lake for Sam’s mothers funeral their connection is just as amazing she remembered it. But until Percy can confront the decisions she made over a decade ago she’ll never know if her and Sam could ever make it together.

This wonderful story is told over 6 years at the lake as teenagers and one weekend in the present.

“Sometimes I felt sure he way-like there was an invisible, unbreakable string that ran between us, stretching vast distances and keeping us joined.”

“I did want you. I do want you. I’ve always wanted you.”

“Boys are fun. Lots of fun. But don’t let one stand in the way of your greatness.”

My Review

In the past I haven’t been a fan of a dual timeline book but this one has completely changed my perspective on them. Throughout the book I grew to love Percy, Sam and the other characters and couldn’t get enough. I had such a hard time putting this book down and wish I could have read it start to finish without pause.

The book had everything I could’ve wanted from love, to conflict, to the heart wrenching moments. It had me wondering of all the possible scenarios of what could have happened between Sam and Percy and I couldn’t stop thinking of the book when I wasn’t reading it.

It was absolutely wonderful. I loved every second of it. When I finished the book I just wanted to cry because it was over and I couldn’t keep reading about Percy and Sam’s story. I would rate this book an easy 5/5 stars and recommend it to any romance lovers.

And that’s the end of my Every Summer After by Carley Fortune book review. If you read this book let me know in the comments if you love it as much as I did. If you’re looking for other books to read check out these reviews: Ready Or Not, Any Trope But You, and Beach Vibes.
