Welcome back to my blog. I hope you all had a great holiday season and are so far having a great new year. I just wanted to make a post to let you lovely readers know that I recently got engaged!

Our Relationship
Lets start off with a little back story of our relationship first. We grew up in the small Canadian province of Prince Edward Island. We started dating when I was 17 and my fiance Johnny was 18 in the summer of 2013. In the fall of 2016 we ended up moving to Edmonton Alberta Canada together which is when we moved in together.
I’m so lucky to have found such a wonderful partner to spend my life with. Ask anyone who knows my fiance and they will tell you they absolutely love him.
Some of our favorite things to do together are play board games and card games, hiking in the mountains (Sulphur Skyline Trail in Jasper, Pocahontas Mine Trail Loop Jasper Alberta), swimming at the beach, and of course traveling anywhere in the world together (Mexico, Banff, Los Angeles, Jasper, ).
The Engagement
Instead of spending the ridiculous amount of money it costs to travel within Canada around Christmas we decided to save a little money and go to an all inclusive resort in Mexico instead. I know what your thinking. It’s absolutely crazy that it is less expensive for a flight to Mexico including the all inclusive resort than it is to just fly across Canada at Christmas time. And you are absolutely right! We ended up staying at the Grand Sunset Princess Resort with a swim out suite into the pool that was only a short swim away from the main pool. I will be making a blog post reviewing this resort so keep an eye out for that.
We arrived at our resort and took a walk around to see it all. Then we went back to our room and stood on our patio looking out at the sunset. That’s when Johnny got down on one knee and proposed to me. Johnny told me after that he actually bought the ring on Wednesday the 11th the day before we left which makes so much sense to me because he’s awful at keeping secrets or presents a secret from you. He needs to buy Christmas presents late because he wants to give them to me right away and not wait until Christmas morning.
The proposal was so romantic and I’ll be honest I had no idea it was coming. I knew we would get engaged one day but I had no idea it would be in 2019. It was definitely the right time though. We’ve been together for about 6.5 years and bought our first home together a year ago. I’m so happy and can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with Johnny.
And that is my getting engaged story. Hope you enjoyed it. I’ve already been looking into wedding planning of course haha. Let me know if you would like to see any wedding planning blog posts as well if you have any wedding planning advice be sure to let me know in the comments below.
