Author
Kasie West is a mother of four who went to Fresno State University and received a BA that has nothing to do with writing. She currently lives in Central Claifornia with her husband and loves to beat the heat by going to the beach when she’s not writing.
Plot
Margot Hart is a hopeless romantic. That’s why she decided to be a literary agent, so she can bring amazing stories to the world. It’s also why she hopes to have a meet-cute to find her perfect guy. She wants a mixed up coffee order, mistaken identity, anything but the dating apps.
Unfortunately, the most consistent relationship she’s had over the years is a guy named Oliver that she keeps matching with on the dating apps. They’ve only been on one horrible date. Well, the date itself was horrible. They had nothing in common, except for the intense chemistry during the make out in Oliver’s car before parting ways. No matter how good the banter is on the apps, they’re too different to have a second date.
When Margot leaves her job on the same day she see’s Oliver again for the first time, her life turns into a complete shit show. Margot’s dream of being a literary agent seems completely out of reach and Oliver is convinced Margot only wants a physical relationship with him to get him out of her system. And maybe he’s right. They are way too different and didn’t have a meet-cute. In Margot’s scramble to build her own literary agency Oliver is by her side being the most helpful a man has ever been. But, just when Margot starts to think she can overlook the fact that they met on a dating app, Oliver seems to be the one holding back.
Review
I’m so happy I won this book in a giveaway. I’d never heard of Kasie West before so it’s unlikely I would have been drawn to her book in a bookstore but I was intrigued by the description when reading through the books available for giveaways. This book is easily one of my favorite books of the year so I’m so glad I won this giveaway or I probably never would have read it. I love a book with good banter and this book really had it. Margot’s character is so quick and funny and constantly had me laughing. It was great to see her character grow personally, and professionally and work so hard towards her goals and to grow something for herself. It was also nice to see a story with dating apps. Of course, we all love a meet-cute, but the reality of today is that there are so many successful couples who meet on dating apps. This is an easy 5/5 star book for me and may be my favorite book of the year so far.
And that’s the end of my We Met Like This by Kasie West book review. If you read this book let me know in the comments what you thought and if you loved it as much as I did. If you’re looking for other books to read check out these reviews: Not Safe For Work, Not So Fast, and Beneath The Stands.
