Author
Kelley Armstrong is a writer with a long list of books to her name, currently living in Ontario with her husband, kids, and so many animals. She has books in the genres of suspense, horror, fantasy, rom-com, and young adult. She prides herself on experiencing things to help her write like aikido, archery, and fencing. None of which she is an expect at, unlike coffee drinking, and writing.
Plot
Gemma hasn’t written in years but decides to take the plunge at writing a romance book post-divorce. When her proposal doesn’t sell, other writers convince her that it’s because no one wants the nice guy hero, they want the bad guy. So, to write Mr. Wrong, Gemma takes inspiration from her first crush Mason Moretti, who’s now a star hockey player. Gemma’s convinced no one will make the connection but a former classmate does and exposes her secret.
Mason is going through some issue of his own with his team and being an aging hockey player. When his reunion with Gemma goes viral he proposes fake dating to help her book sell and improve his image which Gemma reluctantly agrees to.
My Review
This was the first book I’ve read by Kelley Armstrong and I really enjoyed it. I loved the idea of Gemma writing her high school crush into her book in a less than desirable way. It was a fun way to bring the characters back together so many years later for a second shot at love. I really liked seeing the connection that Gemma and Mason had back when they were kids and then again as adults and seeing it evolve to friends and more through great communication. I loved the writing and really enjoyed that the audiobook was duet. It really kept me interested in the story and both narrators had intriguing voices. I rate this book a 4/5 stars and would easily recommend it.
And that’s the end of my Writing Mr. Wrong by Kelley Armstrong book review. If you read this book let me know in the comments and if you loved it as much as I did.
