Today I will be letting you know about another way to utilize social media to help your blog, Twitter. I absolutely love twitter and it can be a really great way to grow your blog.
Most bloggers I interact with would say that Twitter is their favorite platform for interacting with each other. It’s much more personal than other social medias and there is a lot less of the follow/unfollow compared to sites like Instagram.
Content
The first thing I would suggest would be to share your own content. I usually only share each post once after I’ve posted it. I’ve gone on accounts before where it’s just sharing the same posts over and over and that’s all it is. This definitely won’t appeal to anyone. You don’t want your feed to be too full of your own content. Next I would suggest to like and retweet others content that you like. The way I see it is give engagement to get engagement. You can’t expect people to engage with you if you never engage with them.
Take advantage of twitter threads. I put out a couple of threads a month that you can take part of to find other blogs to follow. I put out Instagram, Pinterest, WordPress and just a general follow thread. You can find those by clicking here.
Follow other bloggers, it’s a great way to support each other, find inspiration and the bloggers on Twitter are so nice! Honestly a lot of them follow back so if your looking for some more followers, that can help you get some. Don’t take advantage though. Just find some bloggers you’re wanting to support and a lot of the time they support you back!
Make sure to tweet often, both blogging related and personal. You want your followers to be able to relate to you and not just think you’re a cyborg who only promotes your blog. You can also post pictures every now and then because pictures are more easily seen and your audience can relate to pictures better than words.
Hashtags
Using hashtags on twitter is a must! There are tons of great hashtags to use. Some of my favorites are #bloggerstribe and #thebloggercrowd. You can also use hashtags to get the attention of accounts that will RT them to their account to be seen. You just have to be following these accounts first. Some examples of these accounts are: #thebloggingbeesrt #FierceBloggers @Sunsetbloggers @BloggerLS.
You can also find brands to work with through Twitter. You can search the hashtags #bloggerswanted and #prrequest and if you meet the requirements that the brand is looking for you can comment on their post or message them and possibly work with that brand.
A thing that I love to use to get to know my followers is to use polls. You can ask anything and then give options to vote for. I love this idea and I used it to get information on what people knew about media kits. I found out that the bloggers that follow me really didn’t know if they needed one or how to make one. After learning this information I decided to make a blog post about how to make a media kit because it definitely is a MUST if you want to work with brands. You can read that post here. I also have an ebook I made that includes all that information and more. I included everything I’ve learned about blogging in it for you. You can check that out here.
And that is all the information I have about Twitter. Twitter is definitely an underrated way to grow your blog so definitely try some of the tips above out and see what works for you. Feel free to check out my Twitter page to use as an example. As of the day I’m posting this I was over 4,500 followers.
