Collide

When Summer Preston’s thesis advisor gives her an ultimatum she’s thrust into an unexpected collision with the hockey captain, Aiden Crawford. Summer’s caught between her desire to fulfill her lifelong dream of being a sports psychologist and staying as far away from hockey as possible. And after meeting Aiden, he confirms her worst assumptions about hockey players.
Being the captain of the hockey team has its perks, except when a reckless decision by Aiden’s team threatens their entire season. As punishment, Aiden’s coach volunteers him as the subject of a students research project. Participating in the project of a girl who looks like she wants to use his skates as a weapon against him is the last thing he wants to do.
Summer can’t stand Aiden’s easy going approach to life, and Aiden doesn’t understand why a twenty year old has a twenty-five-year plan. Once their bickering turns to bantering and they let their guards down, there’s nothing to check their feelings.
Spiral

Elias Westbrook is a newly drafted hockey player for the Toronto Thunder. He’s facing media scrutiny with so many expectations on his shoulders while trying to make his first goal. The tabloids are reporting his every move, and every woman he’s seen with, while exaggerating and making up rumours along the way. All Elias wants to focus on is hockey but the media won’t leave him alone.
Sage Beaumont is an aspiring ballerina with dreams of joining the Aurora Ballet Theatre. Unfortunately, due to her lack of social media presence, they won’t even consider her. When Sage finds herself in a place to make her dreams come true by fake dating Elias, she takes it.
Soon enough, their fake dating rules are difficult to follow given their chemistry. Before everything spirals out of control, Elias and Sage need to decide if they take the leap together or end things now.
Revolve

Sierra Romanova was an olympic figure skater before a life-altering accident on the ice left her with panic attacks every time she tries to skate again. Now that she’s back for her final year at Dalton University, she’s looking for a comeback. Everyones eyes are on her, including the bad boy hockey player Dylan Donovan who goads her into getting back on the ice to prove him wrong.
After getting kicked off the hockey team for his reckless behaviour, Dylan is left with slim chances of playing in the NHL one day. Dylan’s entire world revolves around the ice, so if he can’t play hockey, at least he can figure skate. Even better, it means more time spent with Sierra. Sierra’s a seasoned pro, Dylan’s a wild card, but together, they might just be the perfect match.
Quotes
“When I hold her like this, I realize my entire world fits in my arms.”
“I told you that you come first. That hasn’t changed. It won’t ever change.”
“It’s never going to be just a kiss for me. Once I do this, Sage, I won’t be able to stop.”
“I want you to be mine. If anyone in this world deserves someone who’s there for them, it’s you. There’s nothing I wouldn’t do to make you believe you’re worth every bit of worry and care.”
“When you’re with me, Sierra, I don’t want you to be who everyone thinks you are. I want you to be the girl who calls me out on my shit and speaks her mind. Can you do that?”
“She smiles then. It nearly kills me. There she is again. The girl with the soft, bruised heart.”
My Review
I’ve seen Collide recommended so often for lovers of hockey romance so I was so excited to finally get to it. I’m a big fan of hockey romances and this book is included in that list. I haven’t read many reverse grump/sunshine books so it was nice to get to read that for a bit of a change. I loved how driven Summer was to pursue her dreams and not let anything get in her way. Aiden was such a great MMC. He was such a loyal, golden retriever type of character and would do anything for the people he loves. I love a he falls first and harder romance and Aiden definitely fell into this category. I loved this book and rate it 4/5 stars. If you love hockey romance, opposites attract, and reverse grumpy/sunshine I definitely recommend this book.
After reading Collide I was so excited to continue on with Spiral and it didn’t disappoint. I’m a sucker for a fake dating romance book so I had a feeling I’d like this book and it did. It did take me a little longer than I thought to get through the first half of the book but I flew through the second half. I loved Sage’s character with how determined she was to do everything on her own and take care of her brother. As an older sister I really related to her love for her sibling. Elias was a very misunderstood character and I loved to learn more about why he was the way he was and seeing him grow and open up. I really liked this book, rate it 4/5 stars and recommend it to anyone who likes fake dating, slow burn, and roommates books.
Hockey romance is always fun to read, but hockey and figure skating is even better so I of course loved Revolve. Sierra is exactly the kind of spunky character that I love to read about. She won’t be pushed around and loves to prove others wrong in their assumptions about her. I can’t help but love a reformed playboy kind of MMC. The fact that Dylan never wanted a girlfriend until he met Sierra is something I love to see develop and become all consuming. Sierra and Dylan together are so easy to root for and the fact that they compete in figure skating together is so fun. I absolutely loved this book and couldn’t recommend it enough. This was an easy 5/5 stars. If you like reformed player, forced proximity, and sports romance books then you’ll love this one.
And that’s the end of my Off The Ice By Bal Khabra book series review. I absolutely loved this series and can’t wait for the fourth to come out. If I had to list my favourite books from first to last I would pick; Revolve, Collide, then Spiral. If you read these books let me know in the comments and if you loved them as much as I did.
