Author
Victoria Lavine is an author born in Germany but currently living in Maine with her family. She’s always been a fan of reading romance novels and decided to write her first romance novel Any Trope But You. Victoria’s also a big lover of coffee and is always looking for an excuse to have another cup.
Plot
Gracie Holland lives for Happily Ever Afters, but unfortunately, not her own. After a horrible breakup, she’s committed all her time into planning weddings at Larkwood, the ivy-covered Rhode Island estate where she also lives in the guest cottage. But when her beloved boss and friend passes away and leaves the estate to her grandson, Gracie’s carefully rebuilt life is suddenly on the line. Jude Larkwood is everything Gracie’s not. He doesn’t believe in love and he’s a divorce lawyer. He’s also planning on selling Larkwood by the end of the summer, which would make Gracie homeless and jobless.
Jude has spent his life cleaning up other romantic disasters. The last thing he wants to do is watch more of it on his families property. But inheriting Larkwood comes with the hopeless romantic wedding planner Gracie. Gracie’s sunshine personality unsettles him. But somehow she manages to push through his defenses.
When Gracie’s ex calls out of the blue asking her to plan his wedding, she sees an unexpected opportunity. Jude reluctantly agrees to give her until the wedding to change his mind, and in exchange, she drags him into a two-month crash course in love to make even the most hardened cynic start to wonder if love might not be such a scam after all. But as cake tastings and vendor emergencies give way to late-night confessions and undeniable chemistry, Gracie and Jude must confront the fears they’ve spent years avoiding. But can a hopeless romantic and a confirmed cynic find a future they both believe in?

My Review
Ever since reading Victoria Lavine’s debut novel Any Trope But You and giving it five stars I’ve been itching for her next book and it absolutely exceeded by expectations. As soon as I heard that the main characters were a wedding planner and a divorce lawyer I knew this would be an intriguing story but it was so much better than I imagined. Specifically, learning about Jude’s character and who he really is behind his job titled blew me away. Victoria has such an eye for a complex character full of layers you don’t expect to be there. Jude is easily a new favourite MMC of mine. I loved Gracie’s character, seeing her flaws, and her attempt to work through everything after her entire life fell apart. Jude and Gracie as a couple may seem unexpected at first but they were actually the perfect couple and I couldn’t imagine a better pair. This book was another easy five star read for me and now of course I can’t wait for Victoria’s third book. She’s quickly becoming a favourite author or mine and I know I’ll read anything she writes in the future. If you love enemies to lovers, forced proximity, and grumpy/sunshine then you’ll love this book.
And that’s the end of my Not That Kind Of Proposal By Victoria Lavine book review. If you read this book let me know in the comments and if you loved it as much as I did.
