Is Tailwind Worth The Money?

If you’re a blogger you’re probable looking for some ways to get some views to your blog. One of the ways to do this is through Pinterest using Tailwind. You do have to pay for Tailwind so you may be wondering is Tailwind worth the money? That’s what I will be answering for you today.

If you’re not to familiar with Pinterest let me give you a quick run down. A lot of people think Pinterest is just another social media account. However, it is actually more of a search engine. If you search something like vegan dinner recipes on Google you should also get a search link in Pinterest come up. One of the things I love the most is that the followers you have on Pinterest doesn’t make or break your opportunity to get impressions on your pins and, therefore views to your blog.. Is Tailwind Worth The Money?

Tailwind Scheduler

When I first started using Pinterest I really didn’t think it was a big deal to go on Pinterest everyday to manually pin everything. I didn’t realize how very wrong I was until I started using Tailwind’s 1 month free trial (get your free trial now). Now that I use Tailwind’s scheduler it suggests the best times to schedule pins based on when my pins are viewed/repined/clicked the most. This also means I can have pins go up while I’m a work or asleep which is very helpful.

With the schedule I have about 10 pins go up a day. Pinterest suggests not to pin any more than 30 pins a day and within those 30 pins make sure you don’t have the same link more than 5 times in 1 day. And I’ll be honest, I only make the effort to schedule pins maximum twice a week. Sometimes I only do it once every 2 weeks. It just makes it so easy to work on it for a little while and then let Tailwind css do the work for you for days or weeks after. Also, if your wondering how to make some great click worthy images for Pinterest Canva will be your best friend.

If you’re using Pinterest and aren’t sure why you aren’t getting the clicks you think you should be it may be because you’re having too many repins. I’m currently trying out only making new pins and posting those to 1 board each to see if I can get more impressions, saves, and clicks and so far it’s working. You can add new Pins to Tailwind the schedule so they don’t all go out at once. In your schedule just go to upload drafts. Don’t forget to change the link because it automatically goes to your home page!  You can still repin those pins to other boards but I wouldn’t post to anymore than 5 boards. Pinterest loves new pins and prioritizes those and your pins over others content that you repin so make sure to keep that in mind.

Tailwind Tribes

Now let’s get on to Tailwind Tribes. When you sign up for Tailwind you also get to join 5 tribes for free, and post to those tribes 30 times a month. If you have the extra money you can spend $120.00 a year to join unlimited tribes and post unlimited pins to them. I personally think you can just keep it with the free amount unless you have the extra money.

When you join a tribe make sure to know the rules. Some of them have specific niches and rules something along the lines of repin one for every pin you add which is of course very fair. A great thing about Tailwind tribes is that you can get your pin onto a dashboard of someone who may have never found your pin in the first place. And now the viewers of that person will get to see your pin. It’s just a great way to get your pins all around Pinterest therefore getting you more views to your blog.

Tailwind Insights

Tailwind has so much to look at when it comes to the insights they offer. First off they have profile performance which includes new followers, pins, and repins. Next you can look at your boards insights. This lets you know which boards are the most popular. This is a great way to find out if a group board your using isn’t doing anything for you so you can decide to leave it (prioritize your boards over group boards always). Then there’s the pin inspector. You can check all pins on your profile or you can look at just the ones for your website and see what people are liking and repining.

Next up would be the most important insight, your website insights. Through this you can see a lot of information including seeing which pins are getting the most clicks to your website. This is extremely important because now you can make more similar pins to the ones that are getting you all these clicks to your website.

  1. I still have a wordpress.com url so things aren’t as precise for me, but I’m looking into getting some extra pins to tribes. I might start with the extra $39.99 a year option and try to go from there, but I filled up my tribe pins halfway through the month so I’m stuck waiting to post again.

I’ve definitely found it worth while since I can’t manually pin all day long.

  4. I’m only just getting started with Pinterest so I’ll definitely check this out, thanks!

    1. Pinterest can be tricky at first but in the end is so worth it and Tailwind helps with that!

  5. I think it’s definitely got some potential for those who are comfortable using it. There are so many great scheduling apps out there for the various social media platforms – many of wish people are totally unaware of. Personally, I wasn’t as big of a fan of Tailwind but I have clients that love it so I still use it with them during coaching. So I won’t say I’m against it for everyone, I just didn’t end up loving it as much as I thought for me.

    1. Definitely different opinions for everyone but for people who are manually scheduling all pins it’s a life saver 🙂

  6. ah this is such a great reminder for me to set aside some time for (1) Pinterest and (2) my Tailwind. It is always the first thing to go when I’m low on time, but you’re right that both are valuable in driving traffic to your blog.

Do you have any tips for the pin creation process? I think that’s where I get caught up!

    1. Canva all the way! It’s so easy to use. I make 600 x 900 sized pins 🙂 https://www.canva.com/join/sickle-attention-sap

  7. I use Tailwind as well and it’s definitely been helpful is scheduling posts at optimal times and I looove using Tailwind Tribes too!! 🙂

    1. Awesome 🙂

  8. Very helpful post! I have so much to learn. 🙂

    1. Glad I could help 🙂

  9. I love pinterest but it is not bringing me traffic. I have tried Tailwind but I am just not loving it enough to spend the money.

Great post though, it is definitely making me re-think the way I use it x

    1. Pinterest can definitely be hard to start off with using. Be sure to check out my posts on Pinterest to learn more about it 🙂

  10. I have been meaning to try tailwind a lot of people swear by it for getting more views on their blog and getting more monthly views but in the last few days, I have seen a few people say that they have had more engagement with manual pinning which obviously takes a lot longer. I might need to give it a try and see what I prefer!

  11. Tailwind sounds so helpful and useful for gaining traffic to your blog without putting in too much manual labor. As I continue to grow in the industry, I’ll definitely look into Tailwind as an investment for my brand.
