Banff/Jasper
I live about a 4 hour drive away from the mountains and I am so lucky I do! They have some great mountains for skiing and snowboarding and everything just looks so magical all covered in snow. There is endless gorgeous places to see in the mountains and I highly recommend. I’ve actually done a review of a hotel I stayed at in Banff, you can read that post here, and book here. Switzerland
Another beautiful winter mountain scene is waiting for you! My mom visited Switzerland about 8 years ago if I remember correctly and I was so jealous of all the pictures! It really does seem like such a dream of a place to visit.
New York
I actually went to New York in the winter a few years ago and loved it! The city is so beautiful all covered in snow and central park looks great! Make sure to bundle up though because your going to be walking around a lot in this city and it can get a little cold.
Quebec City
Quebec City is such a great place the visit in the winter. If your looking for somewhere to go in Canada I would consider this one. They have so many festivals and markets, especially around Christmas time.
Edinburgh Scotland
Edinburgh is a fantastic place filled with beautiful buildings and castles all over. It’s really such an amazing city and the snow in the winter time just makes it look so magical and like it’s out of a fairy tale.
Norway
More mountains of course! I really think that the mountains are so much more beautiful with snow on them. Also, in Norway you can see the northern lights! How amazing is that?
Alaska
If your looking for the real winter experience Alaska is the place! They have such a long winter season and it gets extremely cold. Also, there really isn’t a lot of sun in the Winter so be sure to go in the months that there is a little sun otherwise that might be a little dreary.
Iceland
Iceland has some beautiful landscapes and is another place you can see the northern lights. Be sure to pack for cold weather because it will be!
Austria
I think Austria is a great place to visit in the winter. The little towns are gorgeous and really worth your visit.
I hope this list gives you some excitement for the best cold winter travel destinations. A lot of us, myself included can often just wait for winter to be over and not enjoy it. Visiting these places will really perk up your winter and help you get through those winter blues with ease.
Great post!
All of these places look so great! Don’t forget Chicago next time ☃️ Jk but we do get a lot of snow! I want to visit NY, Banff (there’s so many banffs that I get confused but I wanna visit all of them lol), and Alaska! but first I want to learn how to snow board 🙂
Thanks for sharing!

I bet most of these places are super beautiful in the winter. Where I live, the snow turns to ice over night, which makes it hard to enjoy! Also, NYC stays cold for so long. I visited in March one year, and it was still so snowy and beautiful!

I haven’t been to any of these places but they look so beautiful. Thanks for your insight and awesome pictures.
I love this post, right this second there is nothing more I want than a vacation. New York in the winter is my absolute favorite. Though if I were snowed in (which thankfully I am not) I would choose the beaches of Florida:) that’s one of my favorite vacations ever – I escaped snowy Connecticut and landed in sunny Florida, it was beautiful.
I love these pictures takes me back to my skiing trip in Czech Republic !

I have family in Switzerland! It’s gorgeous over there – and yes, cold! haha
We’ve actually been to a few of those places, but others wouldn’t have even crossed our mind. Just back from the wintry wonderland of Finnish Lapland and the highlight was seeing the magical phenomenon of the Northern Lights dance right above our heads. Spectacular.
