When it comes to getting views for your blog there are so many ways you can do that. One of the best ways to do that is through Pinterest. Some bloggers get over 10,000 views a day from only Pinterest. So, in this post I will let you know my top 5 Pinterest tips for bloggers to help you get there too.

Business Account
The first big tip is to switch your account to a business account. Your profile will now display views instead of followers. A cool thing about Pinterest is that you can get tons of views from people that don’t follow you, because Pinterest is more of a search engine than a social media account. However, having more followers will not hurt as they can still see your posts too. Don’t worry if your views go up and down, that’s natural. My views have been as low as 3.5m and as high as 4.0m in the last few months. You can change your account to a business account here business.pinterest.com.
Another thing you need to do is to verify your website. This is can be done in different ways depending on who you have your blog with. Pinterest will have a section to teach you how to do this after you change your account to a business account.
You can also install rich pins for pinterest. Doing this will have your website name and icon displayed underneath your pin image. To do this you will need to already have the Yoast SEO plugin (very important plugin!) installed. After Yoast is activated, go to the Yoast’s “Features” tab. Make sure the “Advanced settings pages” is “Enabled” and that will enable the metadata. Next go to the Rich Pin Validator here and put a link to any blog post and click validate, click “apply now” twice and it’s done!
Images
Your images you use for your pins are extremely important. If it’s not a nice photo and without any words on it the chances of someone clicking on it are very low. Pinterest also likes vertical pins. I make my pins using the custom dimensions tab on Canva and I usually go for something like 600 x 900.
Next make sure the quality of the photo your using is great. If you aren’t happy with your photos you can use free stock photos from a site like pexels.com or unsplash.com. These sites have tons of free photos for you to use so you know you will have something great. Now, when it comes to putting words on your pins image I would say this is a must. If you just have a picture of a computer on a desk people aren’t very likely to click it. However, if you also have written on there “Tops 5 Pinterest Tips For Bloggers” that might make more people want to click it and learn more about it.
Keywords
Keywords are very important and aren’t taken advantage of enough. What you may not know is if you search the word “mojito” you will get suggestions such as pitcher, raspberry, alcoholic, recipe, etc. These are some great keywords you can put into your pin description to have it brought up higher on the search.
Another thing you can do is add those keywords and the more relevant ones to hashtags at the end of your description. Pinterest will recognize these and it will help your pin be shown more to people who are searching for your pin.
It’s also very important to have keywords in your board descriptions. When I first started Pinterest I didn’t have descriptions in my boards and didn’t think it made a difference. But then one day I sat down and added descriptions to all them and my monthly Pinterest views went up about 1 million! I know this takes a while but it’s really important to getting those views to your Pinterest and blog. No need for hashtags in the board descriptions, just some great and relevant keywords.
Pins
When it comes to what to pin with the algorithm constantly changing I now only pin my own content. I also only post new pins so no repining and that seems to work. The amount of times I’ve seen Pinterest accounts with just the same photo over is way too often and they wonder why Pinterest isn’t working for them. But it always shows in the amount of views they get. Those accounts are not great to look at and will not get the attention they want. But with this small change they can do so much better.
Pinterest likes it when you make new images all the time. I sit down and make about 10-20 images for 1 blog post at a time. Always change up your images and pin descriptions as this is what Pinterest is wanting from you. I used to use Tailwind for everything but I’ve switched over to manually pinning.
Tailwind
I’ll be the first to admit that before I had Tailwind I didn’t think it was worth paying for but boy was I ever wrong! Now I can spend a day scheduling pins and I don’t have to go back to it for weeks if I do enough because it pins automatically for me at the times people are most on my Pinterest account. If you want to try it out for a month for FREE you can do that here.
Another great feature Tailwind has is their Tribes. You can join tribes for specific to your niche. They will usually have some sort of rule like repin one for each pin you post in the tribe. What’s great about this is your pin is in a section that people are for sure going to be saving to their Pinterest accounts. This means your Pin has the potential to be seen by so many more people than it would if you just posted it as you normally would. This is because it’s seen by viewers of accounts that may have never repined your images had you not put them in the tribe.
Tailwind also has some great analytics so be sure to check those out as they can help you understand which pins are performing well and which boards are doing great too. There are a lot of great things about Tailwind because they’re approved by Pinterest. However, recently it didn’t seem to be working for me as much so I decided to manually pin for a while. For more information about Tailwind and if it’s worth it check out my post about that here.

Great Pinterest tips! Pinterest is such an important part of my blog engagement! Although I admit I’ve still not paid for Tailwind but feel like I need to take that step
Tailwind helps so much!! I honestly wish I would have bought it sooner than I did haha
These are great tips! I already have a business account & make my Pinterest images in Canva, but I don’t keywords. I should start doing that now!
