Where to Stay in Jasper
For this trip we decided to stay at Chateau Jasper Hotel. I looked at a few places and this one looked like one of the best ones and just happened to be the cheapest. I thought the rooms were nice and clean however, there didn’t seem to be a lot of plugs. If you’re just charging phones than you should be fine. Also, this hotel had a pool and hot tub. We thought about going in but ended up not because it was full of people that evening on the weekend we were there.
The only thing this hotel doesn’t have is a continental breakfast so if that’s something high on your list of must haves you may want to book somewhere else. However, there are so many great places for breakfast in Jasper it’s not necessary to have.
Activities in Jasper
Athabasca Falls
Athabasca falls is a gorgeous place I like to try and visit every time I go to Jasper National Park. It has a huge gorgeous waterfall with the most beautiful big mountain behind it. There are tons of viewpoints here to check out. Also, there is a really cool pathway to walk down to the bottom of the waterfall and see down the river. If you decide to visit Athabasca falls you can get there by taking the Icefields Parkway which is the highway you would use to go from Banff to Jasper and Lake Louise along the way. You can also access the Sunwapta Falls on this highway which I’ve been to multiple times and would recommend seeing.
Jasper Skytram
The Jasper Skytram is always a really cool thing to experience. If you aren’t huge into hiking you can still get to the top of a mountain quickly and experience the great views this way. There is also a spot for you to climb to the very top of the mountain if you like. Also, keep your eyes open for animals because I’ve often seen some mountain goats up there.
Maligne Ice Walk
The Maligne Ice walk is something I would definitely recommend. And, I would recommend going with a tour guide to help you. We went and it was amazing. Unfortunately, it was a little warm the day before so we didn’t get to go as far as we wanted because of the melting ice. I would suggest going between December and early to mid February to make sure this doesn’t happen to you.
Along the ice walk you will also get to see tons of people ice climbing which our tour guide really suggests to try out some time in your life. He said he does it all the time now since he’s tried it. If you want to check this out at a different time of year you still can. There are tons of trails all around there that you can try out.
Miette Hot Springs
The hot springs are such an amazing relaxing experience. I try to go as often as I can when we are in Jasper. I personally like to go after hikes because you’re sore and the warm water always feels nice. There is actually an amazing hike called Sulphur Skyline Trail right at the same place as the hot springs. I did this one a few years ago. You can check out that post here.
Food in Jasper
Jasper Brewing Company
We decided to go to the Jasper Brewing Company for supper. They have great food and we also all tried their beer set that comes with 6 different types of beer for you to try. I would definitely go back to this place.
Jasper Pizza Place
Before we left we decided to get something to eat for a late lunch and went to the Jasper Pizza Place. It was amazing pizza and I’m honestly still thinking about it haha. I know I will be going back here for sure!
And those are just a few ideas of what you can do while in Jasper Alberta.
