What I Love About Christmas

What I Love About Christmas

Today I’m going to be talking to you about some of my favorite things about Christmas. Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday and here’s why.

Lights

I love to look at Christmas lights. I love to drive around neighborhoods and find some beautiful light displays to look at. My favorite lights are the warm white lights. I find they just make the space feel warm and cozy. Colorful lights are also really great as well. I like these types more so on outside of houses. I love when the house look like they went for a really fun look.

Music

I love Christmas music around this time of year. It just makes me so happy and really puts me in the mood for Christmas. One of the radio stations I listen to changes to all Christmas music so I’m really excited for that to happen. I’ve also made a post of my favorite Christmas songs as well if you’re interested.

Decorations

Christmas decorations are great! They really just get you in the Christmas spirit and excited for the holiday. My favorite decoration is hands down the Christmas tree. I can really see myself being that person that has multiple Christmas trees in their house in the future haha.

Family

I love that the holiday season is an excuse to be able to see your family. Unfortunately, I live very far away from my family and can’t afford a plane ticket home to them around this time of year. Maybe in the future I will get to enjoy this part more.

Baking

I love to bake! I actually went to Pastry School at the Culinary Institute of Canada. Around the holiday season there are so many great recipes and designs you can do for holiday baking. I’ve already made a few recipes and I can’t wait to do many more!

Markets/Craft Fair

I’m really excited to go to some Christmas markets this year. They always have great food, baked goods, and tons of great Christmas gifts. I’m hoping I’ll be able to go to a few different ones.

Gift Giving

I absolutely love gift giving. I really love to find something for someone I care about that they’ll really love. My favorite part is to watch the facial expression of someone who got exactly what they wanted or needed. My friends and I are also doing a secret Santa again this year which I’m really excited for.

Ugly Christmas sweater parties

Ugly Christmas sweater parties have to be the absolutely best Christmas parties. I love to see all the really tacky ones with a bunch of bells or lights on them. Two years ago my mom actually got my boyfriend Johnny and I a make your own ugly Christmas sweater kit so we made those last year for our party. It included a sweater and all these different things with it so you can make your own and really get creative.

Snow

I’m not a huge fan of the cold but I do love the snow! It’s just so petty when it falls and you can also go outside and play in it as well. To me it just doesn’t feel like Christmas if there’s no snow.

Hot Drinks

Christmas is just the perfect time for all the great hot drinks. My favorite hot drink is definitely hot chocolate. I have a recipe here for a homemade one if your interested. I also really love hot apple cider and tea. I’m happy if I have any of these 3 hot drinks.

Fall To Do List Fall Tag The Best Parts About Christmas

Movies

I’m a huge fan of Christmas movies. I really do think that some Christmas movies are in the category of best movies ever! If you want to know my 15 favorite movies you can check them out on this post.

Gingerbread house

Another great part about the holiday season is making gingerbread houses. There are so many great kits you can buy and I make one every year. You can also make your own gingerbread for the gingerbread house but I just like to buy my own because I probably wouldn’t end up eating it anyway.

Charity

Christmas really is the time to give to those less fortunate. My family has a tradition that every Christmas my grandpa gives his kids $100 to buy food and then we all donate what we bought together to our church. This is definitely a tradition I’m really sad that I miss out on while being away from home.

And there are some of my favorite parts of Christmas. I would love to know what you love the most as well.

  1. Great post Brianna! My favourite thing about Christmas is definitely the time spent with my family. The banter at the dinner table.. The food.. But not the heat though.. Where we are, Christmas is in the middle of scorching summer.. Water fight party anyone?? But it’s all good fun nonetheless.

  2. By far Christmas is my favorite holiday as well. What I love the most is family time and cooking all the great holiday recipes. I love to play games and laugh with my family and then see how much they’re enjoying my food. The best!

  10. I’m not technically supposed to celebrate Christmas anymore if I were to follow what I learned about some of the history behind it, but since I’m still in spiritual transition, I am grieving the idea of letting go of it. I still visit family and caved with watching Christmas movies, for instance. 🙂
