Author
Elsie Silver is a #1 New York Times and #1 USA Today bestselling Canadian author of small town steamy romances. She does a great job of writing tension and emotional connection.
Off To The Races

Vaughn Harding’s never had a problem keeping things professional with his employees on the ranch. That is, until he meets Billie. She’s talented, feisty, and so very tempting. They clash immediately and Vaughn can’t stop thinking of ways to take her down a peg. And then that turns into not being able to stop thinking about her period.
In a small town, on a small farm, it’s impossible to keep your distance. Billie is so smart, talented and gorgeous. She could also be what saves the farm. The more time they spend together, the more Vaughn wants her, but at what cost?
A Photo Finish

Cole Harding has seen every inch of Violet Eaton, but she has no idea who he is. Until now. Their chats online were meant to stay online and in the past. Until it didn’t. When Cole’s forced to the small town of Ruby Creek his grumpy facade slips when he’s forced to live under the same roof as Violet.
Violet’s every look, word, the flush of her cheeks, and begging him not to stop melts his icy exterior. She has him wanting sometime he can’t have. Something he doesn’t deserve. Cole came back from the war a different man full or wounds on the inside and out. What he should do is walk away from her. But the more time he spends with her. The harder that is.
The Front Runner

Stefan Delca is brooding, bossy and beautiful. He’s also public enemy number one with a murky past that’s hard to overlook.
Mira Thorne is a renowned veterinarian, but when she finds herself in need of Stefan’s help to save a sick colt, she agrees to three fake dates with him.
Their time together starts are just the transaction of saving the colt and the fake dates. However, the more time Mira spends with Stefan, the more she wonders if he’s really the villain her friends made him out to be. With every intense conversation and lingering look, the tension between them continues to build and find each other irresistible.
Mira knows sleeping with the enemy is playing with fire, but the more he soften’s for the the harder she falls. She just hopes she doesn’t end up getting burned.
A False Start

Griffin Sinclaire is the grumpy town recluse and former football star who kisses a girl he doesn’t know in the back of a bar. But this doesn’t turn out to be just any girl. This girl is Nadia Delca. She’s fourteen years younger than him, his best friends sister, and completely off-limits.
Griffin’s plan is to stay away but he keeps finding himself around her. She’s absolutely gorgeous and that stare of hers is full of longing and so judgement free unlike most people in this small town.
Giving into Nadia would be a mistake. Griffin’s life is a mess and Nadia has her entire life ahead of her. Nadia’s brother is her only family, and he’s also Griffin’s only real friend. Despite everything telling him not to give in, he kisses her again. But now, he doesn’t think he can ever stop.
Quotes
“Close a high-stakes business deal? No problem. Fire someone? I’m your man. Talk to a girl you like and respect? I guess I’ll just crumble instead.”
“Let me redefine that line you keep talking about: you are more than my employee and I am more than your boss. I’m done giving you space that we both don’t want. It’s not at all complicated. You’ll work with me during the day and underneath me at night. Every night. There will be no tiptoeing. There will be no running. There will be no one else.”
“I should tell her she’s so much more. The thing that got me out of bed most mornings. My bright spot. My sunshine.”
“Every touch, every look, every gentle word, it’s like a slow-motion reel that won’t stop playing through my mind. I’m so far gone, it’s not even funny.”
“There’s something about a woman who wields her brain like a weapon and her tongue like a whip that makes me want to worship at her feet.”
“I must be a glutton for punishment because getting turned down by her has become one of my favorite pastimes.”
“I’ll give you all my right nows, Nadia. Every fucking last one. I’ll give you anything you want. I’ve been powerless since the first time I laid eyes on you.”
“Before? That was a false start. This? This is a clean slate. I want all your right nows. All your tomorrows. I want it all with you.”
My Review
I was so excited to start reading Elsie Silver books as I’ve heard nothing but raving reviews. I decided to start with her books from the beginning and work my way through them so I started with Off To The Races. I’m a sucker for an enemies to lovers, small town romance and this one didn’t disappoint. This is my first cowboy style romance and it has me so excited to keep reading this series and the next ones. I loved Billie as a character with how outspoken she was and never afraid of the repercussions. I did like Vaughn as well but as far as male main characters go he isn’t a favorite of mine as well as them as a couple. That’s not to say that I didn’t like him, or them. There are just many characters I would rate above them. Overall, I really liked this book and rate it 3/5 stars.
I absolutely loved A Photo Finish. I enjoyed this book more than Off To The Races. Age age romances aren’t my favorite trope but I think this one was done very well and I couldn’t picture it any other way. I really liked how their relationship started anonymously online. With so many romance books they can sometimes blend together so I liked that this book had something different to easily set it apart. I found myself relating a lot of Violet with her being quiet and soft spoken but speaking up when needed and pursuing what makes her happy. I loved the representation of Cole being in therapy to deal with the wounds of his time in the war as well as his fathers death. It was nice to see a male main character trying to better understand his emotions and therefor better himself in the process. I loved this forced proximity, second chance romance and would absolutely recommend it. I rate this book 4/5 stars.
I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved The Front Runner. After reading the first two books I really wasn’t sure how I’d like Stefan being the male main character but he was absolutely amazing so easy to root for, and the perfect match for Mira. Mira is such a strong independent woman and I loved seeing her story as well as seeing her vulnerable side when she needed someone. I like that this book had fake dating but in just a small part to bring them together but not too quickly like other books with that trope do. This book was an amazing forced proximity, he fell first book that had me shedding so tears as well. I rate this book 4/5 stars and I think this book is my favorite of the first three books.
After reading The Front Runner I was so excited to get into Nadia’s story in A False Start and it didn’t disappoint. Nadia has been through so much in her life and has really matured because of it. She’s such a strong female lead that’s so easy to root for and I couldn’t get enough of her and her story. Griffin has gone through some hard things in his life and I love to see a character realize when they need help to change the trajectory of their life instead of just floating by. I’m a notorious hater of an age gap romance but once again, Elsie Silver has proven me wrong and I absolutely loved these characters together. I rate this book 4/5 stars and recommend it to anyone who loves an age gap, brother’s best friend, small town cowboy romance.
And that’s the end of my Gold Rush Ranch by Elsie Silver book series review. I absolutely loved this series and couldn’t recommend it enough. If I had to list my favorite books from first to last I would pick; The Front Runner, A Photo Finish, A False Start, then Off To The Races. If you read these books let me know in the comments and if you loved it as much as I did.
