Quotes

“If this were my last moment alive, how would I want it to be?”

“You were out there this whole time, and now I know you exist, and I can never go back. Wouldn’t want to if I could.”

“Willa might be a bit of a psycho—after all, she did just push a child into the pool—but the more time I spend with her, the more I feel like she’s my psycho.”

“And I realize in that moment maybe I am heartless after all, because the beautiful girl with the copper hair grinning back at me right now is the one who stole it.”

“Times have changed, Sloane. I’m not scared anymore. You’re not my fucking friend. You’re just mine.”

“See, Sloane? You can wear someone else’s ring, but we both know you’ve always been mine.”

“It strikes me that perhaps I’m not an easy woman to love, but Theo does it so effortlessly that I feel like I could be. Like I deserve to be.”

“Because the very last thing I need in my life is someone who makes me feel like there’s not enough oxygen in my lungs when I’ve only just caught my breath.”

“You don’t tell a person you love them with the expectation they’ll say it back. You tell them because you want to. You tell them because it’s true.”

“I’m done pretending to be head over heels in love with you because I’m legitimately head over heels in love with you. And acting like I’m not tears me up.”

My Review

After reading the Gold Rush Ranch series I was so excited to start this series and I’m so happy with how Flawless started it off the series. Compared to the last series I liked Rhett as a main character because he was more of a cowboy than the male main characters in the previous series. It was cool to see a little into the world of bull riding as that’s completely new to me. Rhett’s character development was one I love to see with him just sliding by in the bull riding world and not looking for anything else until Summer falls in his lap. Summer was such an easy female main character to root for. It was interesting to see how the drama of her family life affected her in her day to day life and how she learned to overcome that and put herself first. Rhett and Summer are the perfect example of a top tier opposites attract romance. I rate this book 4/5 stars and recommend it to anyone who likes forced proximity, small town, one bed romance.

I’ve only read a few single dad and nanny romance books but Heartless has easily become my favourite. Willa is such a fun character who portrays confidence but deep down has insecurities that she doesn’t show to anyone. One thing I love so much about Cade is that he easily saw those insecurities and made sure Will knew her value. It was so nice to see that Will didn’t know where she wanted to go with her life but stumbled upon it with Cade and his son Luke who must be the best little boy in all the books I’ve read. Cade has easily become a favourite male main character for me. I love his character growth with how he started to let people in, specifically Willa. The fact that he would do anything for Willa and his son just made me love him so much more. This was definitely a 5/5 star read for me and I recommend it to lovers of age gap, forced proximity, and single dad and nanny.

I’ve read so many hockey romances so I was so excited to get to Powerless and I did really enjoy it. I’m a sucker for a childhood friends to lovers book so I really enjoyed that part of it. Watching Sloane let her father and fiancé push her around at the start of the book was really hard to take so it was nice to see her be able to lean on Jasper and to eventually learn to stand up for herself and know her worth. Jasper had such a hard childhood and I love the fact that he had all the Eaton’s as his found family. Seeing him slowly realize what Sloane was to him was nice but I was hoping for more from him. It had always been Sloane unrequited feelings so I just wanted a little more from Jasper after all those years for Sloane’s sake. This is the first book I’ve read with a runaway bride and now I need to find more because it was everything I hoped it would be. Overall I really liked this book and would rate it 3.75/5 stars. This has been my least favourite of the series so far, however, I still really enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone who likes age gap, childhood friends to lovers, and hockey romance books.

After the introduction to Theo and Winter in Flawless I was very intrigued to see how Reckless would turn out and I absolutely loved it. Winter came off very cold in Flawless so it was nice to get her back story and I absolutely fell in love with her because of it. Everything she went through with her family and marriage was so devastating so it was so wonderful to see her come alive with Theo. It was nice to see Theo maturing in Reckless compared to what we’ve seen of him previously in the series. He was everything Winter didn’t know she needed. He was so patient, loving, and stuck to the fact that it was always her for him. He was just waiting for her to realize it too. I absolutely fell in love with Winter and Theo and rate this book 5/5 stars. If you love he falls first, forced proximity, one night stand, and accidental pregnancy books you’ll adore this one.

I was a little surprised when seeing people rating the books in the Chestnut Springs series online that Hopeless fell flat for quite a few people because it didn’t for me. This book is quite different than what you assume you’d get based on the first three books but I think it was a great way to show Beau, his issues, and how he’s overcoming them. And of course, Elsie Silver is once again proving me wrong and making me love another age gap romance. Bailey Jansen is a character that’s impossible not to root for. She’s so young but has had such a hard life and pushes through to help get to a better future and I love that. Beau and Bailey together are so unexpected but absolutely perfect for each other. Bailey has had to grow up so quickly with the way her life has been and Beau is the perfect person to be by her side. The way he protects her and sticks up for her had me smiling ear to ear and I loved every second of it. I rate this book 4/5 stars and recommend it to anyone who likes age gap, fake engagement, and forced proximity.

And that’s the end of my Chestnut Springs by Elsie Silver book series review. I absolutely loved this series and couldn’t recommend it enough. If I had to list my favourite books from first to last I would pick; Heartless, Reckless, Flawless, Hopeless, then Powerless. If you read these books let me know in the comments and if you loved it as much as I did. If you’re looking for other books to read check out these reviews: Shutout, Love Beauty & Soul Series, Gold Rush Ranch Series.
