Plot
Five years ago June Wood lived at 74 Perry street in New York with her former best friend Adam Harper. So why is she getting an email from the management company about the house? Since her new hit TV show just got cancelled there’s no issue with her flying from Los Angeles to New York for this mysterious in person meeting. It turns out, that thanks to their former landlord, if June and Adam can live in 74 Perry street for a month, it’s theirs and they can do what they want with it. They can keep it, or sell it which would really help June out financially now that she’s out of a job.
The only problem is, June and Adam have a lot of unfinished business since they last spoke five years ago before going their separate ways to chase their dreams. They didn’t end on good terms and now they need to navigate this together. As 74 Perry street gets closer and closer to being theirs, it also brings up misunderstandings. resentment, and buried feelings. But they’ve already lost this friendship once. Is it worth risking again?
Quotes
“Since leaving New York, the biggest acting role I’ve had is pretending that I’m happy with the choices I’ve made.”
“It’s a strange feeling, being happy for someone and at the same time knowing they got all they wanted the minute you left their life.”
“There’s no denying I’m still beyond attracted to Adam. It’s an attraction where you just need someone with your entire body and soul. The physical exterior is only a bonus—I want his mind, his thoughtfulness, his protectiveness. I want all of him.”
My Review
I’ve had It’s Different This Time on my TBR for a while so I’m so glad I finally got to it. I’ve constantly told myself that I’m not a fan of second chance romances but yet again, here’s a second chance romance that I absolutely loved. June was such a special character and I loved to root for her career and that she would get where she wanted to be personally and professionally. Adam is a new standard for MMCs. He was everything I wanted in a character and I loved seeing how much he cared for June and his family. Even though it took so long for June and Adam to be together I wouldn’t have it any other way. It was the perfect story and I will never stop recommending it. This was an easy 5/5 star read for me and I recommend it to anyone who likes dual timeline, friends to lovers, roommates, and second chance romances.
