If you’re anything like me than you have a travel bucket list that is never ending. A lot of the places I want to go are in Europe so I decided to making a European travel bucket list to help you decide where to go.

Italy
Rome
Rome is the capital city of Italy. It is filled with tons of art, architecture, and culture. I want to go to Rome mostly because I want to see the amazing buildings. As a result some of the best places in Rome to go are the Colosseum, St. Peter’s Basilica, Roman Forum, and the Trevi Fountain. Rome is definitely one of the top locations on my European travel bucket list. Book a vacation here.
Venice
Venice is a place I want to visit because it’s different. It’s built of more than 100 small islands and has Canals instead of roads. Some must see places are St. Mark’s Square, Campanile di San Marco, Rialto Bridge, Saint Mark’s Basilica and of course ride a gondola down the Grand Canal. Book a vacation here.
Florence
Florence is somewhere that really excites me because it has lots of art from the Renaissance period such as Michelangelo, Botticelli, and Da Vinci. Some places you must see here are the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Uffizi Gallery, Ponte Vecchio, and Palazzo Vecchio. Book a vacation here.
Naples
Naples is located in the south of Italy on the water and near a Volcano. The best places to go in Naples are Pompeii, Herculaneum, Fontanelle cemetery, Lungomare, and Procida. Book a vacation here.
Capri
Capri is an Island in Italy famous for it’s gorgeous landscapes and amazing waters. As a result some of the best places to go in Capri are Blue Grotto, Monte Solaro, Villa San Michele, and Villa Jovis. Book a vacation here.
Cinque Terre
Cinque Terre is absolutely gorgeous! It’s a made up of 5 old seaside villages on the Italian Riviera coastline. Each town has colorful houses, vineyards and harbors with fishing boats. The pictures alone of this coastline are worth the visit. Some places to go here is Doria Castle, Via Fegina, Church of San Giovanni Battista, and Bathing Resort Il Gigante Monterosso Al Mare.
Amalfi
Amalfi is another spot in Italy right on the ocean with steep cliffs which is why I love it. Some places to go here are the Amalfi Coast, Amalfi Cathedral, and the Museum of Paper. Book a vacation here.
Sorrento
Sorrento is another coastal town in Italy facing Naples. It’s known for it’s water views and cafe-lined square. Some of the best things to do here are Piazza Torquato Tasso, Museum Correale, and Villa Comunale, Chiostro di San Francesco. Book a vacation here.
Positano
Positano is another beautiful cliff side village on the coast. It’s a well know vacation spot because of the pebble beaches and beautiful landscapes. Some places to go here are Amalfi Drive, Church of Santa Maria Assunta, Via Fornillo, and Fornillo Beach. Book a vacation here. France
Paris
I’ve actually been to Paris before years ago and loved it! I did go in the Spring time though so there was lots of rain and I would like to go back again during a better season like summer. I’m sure lots of people have Paris at the top of their European travel bucket list so I wanted to give you some insight on what to do while there. Some amazing places to visit while in Paris are the Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum, Notre Dame, and Arc de Triomphe. Book a vacation here. Nice
Nice is a beautiful part of France right on the water with beautiful buildings and blue sea. The pictures are gorgeous and it’s such a great place to travel to. Some things to do are Promenade des Anglais, Musée Matisse, French Riviera, and Marc Chagall National Museum. Book a vacation here.
United Kingdom
London
London is another place I’ve been to that I absolutely loved! I think it’s one of my favorite places I’ve ever traveled to and would go back in a heart beat. Some places to visit here are Big Ben, Tower of London, London Eye, Tower Bridge, and Buckingham Palace. Book your vacation here. Edinburgh
I’ve seen lots of pictures and videos of people who’ve visited Edinburgh and it looks gorgeous. I would definitely want to go here as soon as I can. It’s full of castles which is something my boyfriend and I have been wanting to see more of for a while. Some places to go here are Edinburgh Castle, Palace of Holyroodhouse, Arthur’s Seat, Edinburgh Old Town, and Calton Hill. Book a vacation here.
Bath
Bath is a beautiful spot in England known for it’s Roman build baths, hence the name. Some places to visit here are The Roman Baths, Bath Abbey, Pulteney Bridge, and Thermae Bath Spa. Book a vacation here.
Brighton
Brighton is a beautiful town on the seaside of East Sussex. I think what draws this town to me is how cute it is. I love that it’s on the water because I’m a huge ocean girl but I think my favorite part is the amount of cute bakery’s they have. Some things to do here are go to the Royal Pavilion, British Airways i360, Brighton Palace Pier, and Sea Life Brighton. Book a vacation here.
Liverpool
Liverpool is another place that I think would be cool to visit. One of the main reasons is because it was the hometown of the Beatles so you know it must be great. Some places to go here are Royal Albert Dock, The Beatles Story, Liverpool Cathedral, Cavern Club. Book your vacation here.
Spain
Barcelona
Barcelona is a beautiful city in Spain known for it’s art and architecture. It’s also the name of one of Ed Sheeran’s songs which I absolutely love haha. That’s kind of a reason it’s so high on my list of places to go. Some of the best places to visit here are La Sagrada Familia, Park Guell, Casa Mila, Casa Batllo, and La Rambla. Madrid
Madrid is the capital of Spain with beautiful roads and parks. Some places to travel to here are Plaza Mayor, El Retiro Park, Museo Nacional del Padro, and Puerta del Sol. Book a vacation here.
Valencia
Valencia is known for its Arts and Sciences and beautiful structures. It’s also located on the southeastern coast, where the Turia River meets the Mediterranean Sea so we have some beautiful beaches here as well. Some places to travel to here are Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias, L’Oceanogràfic, La Lonja de la Seda, and The Central Market of Valencia.
Granada
Granada is a beautiful spot in Spain right in the mountains. I live near the mountains here in Alberta and absolutely love them so I would love to see the mountains in Spain as well. Some places to go here are Alhambra, Generalife, Royal Chapel of Granada, Catedral de Granada, and Palace of Charles V. Book your vacation here.
Ibiza
Ibiza is located in the Balearic islands in the Mediterranean Sea. It’s known for it’s night life and as a vacation spot with lots of amazing beaches. Some places to here are Platja d’en Bossa, Cala Comte, Cala Benniras, and Cala d’Hort.
Greece
Athens
Athens is the capitol of Greece and is known as the heart of ancient Greece. It’s full of amazing old structures all over for you to see. Some places to go here are Acropolis of Athens, Parthenon, Acropolis Museum, and Plaka. Book a vacation here.
Santorini
Santorini is a beautiful spot in Greece located in the Cyclades islands in the Aegean Sea. It has beautiful hills where all the buildings are that you’ve seen in those popular pictures of Greece. Santorini is made up of towns so some of the most popular ones to visit, for example, Oia, Fira, Thera, and Kamari. Santorini is somewhere I’m hoping to cross off my European travel bucket list soon on my honeymoon.
Mykonos
Mykonos is located in the Cyclades group in the Aegean Sea and is known for its summer party scene. It’s full of wonderful beaches and beautiful views. I think If I had to choose only one spot to go in Greece Mykonos might be it. Some places to go here are Delos, Ftelia, and Mykonos Windmills.
Crete Region
Crete Region is the largest island in Greece. It’s known for it’s terrain of sand and mountains on the beach. Crete is the birthplace of Zeus according to Greek mythology, which I find kind of cute. Some beautiful places to go in Crete are Knossos, Elafonisi, Samaria Gorge, and Balos Beach.
Zakynthos Island
Zakynthos Island is a Greek island in the Ionian Sea well known for it’s amazing resorts. It’s definitely high up on my list of places to go. There are tons of great beaches you can go to on this island and go exploring. This in my opinion is one of the mos gorgeous beaches in Europe. Book a vacation here.
Germany
Munich
Munich is an interesting city that has centuries-old buildings and a lot of museums. The city is also known for its annual Oktoberfest celebration. Some places to visit here are Marienplatz, English Garden, Nymphenburg Palace, and Munich Residenz. Book a vacation here.
Berlin
Berlin is the amazing capitol of Germany and is known for things such a the Holocaust memorial and it’s art scene. As a result, some places to go here are Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag Building, Museum Island, and Berliner Fernsehturm. Book a vacation here.
Frankfurt
Frankfurt is a city on the River main in Germany. It is known as the birthplace of writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and also being damaged during World War II and then later rebuilt. Some places to go here are Romer, Main Tower, Palmengarten, and Goethe House. Book a vacation here.
Cologne
Cologne is a 2000 year old city located on the Rhine River and is known for those amazing river views. As a result, some places to go here are Cologne Cathedral, Cologne Chocolate Museum, Phantasialand, and Museum Ludwig.
Switzerland
Zurich
Zurich is a city in Switzerland known for being a global center for banking and finance. Switzerland is somewhere in Europe I definitely want to see sooner rather than later. Some place to visit in Zurich are Grossmunster, Fraumunster Church, Bahnhofstrasse, and Uetilberg.
Lucern
Lucern is another city in Switzerland known for its medieval architecture and the snow capped mountains on Lake Lucern. As a result, some places to visit here are Chapel Bridge, Lion Monument, Swiss Museum of Transport, and Hofkirche St. Leodegar.
Geneva
Geneva is another city in Switzerland right on the Geneva Lake surrounded by beautiful mountains. Some places to go here are The Geneva Water Fountain, St Pierre Cathedral, Palais des Nations, L’horloge fleurie. Book a vacation here.
Netherlands
Amsterdam
Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands and is known for its artistic heritage, canal system and narrow houses. I think Amsterdam looks so gorgeous which is one of the reasons it’s been on my European travel bucket list for a while now. I actually have a big picture of a canal in Amsterdam in our bedroom taking up a large part of the wall. As a result, some places to travel to in Amsterdam are the Van Gogh Museum, Anne Frank Museum, Dam Square, and Vondelpark. Book a vacation here.
Rotterdam
Rotterdam is an amazing city known for being almost completely rebuilt after World War II and being known for a lot of modern architecture. As a result, some places to travel to here are the Cube Houses, Euromast, Erasmusbrug, and the Rotterdam Zoo. Book a vacation here.
Ireland
Dublin
Dublin is the capitol city of Ireland and is know for it’s historic buildings. This is somewhere I would definitely like to visit in Europe soon. Some places to travel to in Ireland are the Guinness Storehouse, Temple Bar, Dublin Castle, and Phoenix Park. Book a vacation here.
Galway
Galway is a harbor city where the River Corrib meets the Atlantic ocean. As a result, some places to travel to here are the Spanish Arch, Galway Cathedral, Galway City Museum, and Eyre Square. Book a vacation here.
Cork
The city of Cork is an island that formed the River Lee. Some places to go here are Blarney Castle, Blarney Stone, The English Market, and Fota Wildlife Park. Book a vacation here.
Limerick
This location is a major city in Ireland you can travel to known for it’s medieval era and therefore amazing buildings that come along with that. Some places to go here are King John’s Castle, The Hunt Museum, St. Mary’s Cathedral, and The Milk Market. Book a vacation here.
And as of result, those are all the locations on my European travel bucket list. I know there’s a lot so I need to start planning some trips ASAP to get some of these checked off my bucket list. Edinburgh is a fantastic city – less than two hours by train from me. The Christmas market is magical. Zante is a lush island in Greece I’ve been twice and I’d go again. Great bucket list.

What a great bucket list! I’ve been to many of these places already and there are many more that I haven’t been to yet. All beautiful in their own way. So far my favourites have to be Rome and Athens because of their deep rooted history and the buildings still ‘alive’ from way back when.
YES! That is one of the major reasons I want to see those places. I can only assume that the pictures don’t do them justice and they already look incredible so I want to see them in person 🙂
