Author

Peter Nichols grew up in the United States, England, and Europe. He’s also published six other books, both fiction and non-fiction. I only found out this information after reading the book but loved to learn it as I can see Peter Nichols brought aspects of his own life to the character of Alex Brangwen.

Plot

This book follows Alex Brangwen, an author and detective in a small coastal town in Maine with a serial killer on the loose. Granite Harbor is shaken to it’s core when a local teenage is found murdered and Alex is relied on to find the person responsible. However, Alex discovers that this might not be the first person murdered by this killer.

The book also follows Isabel, mother to Ethan, who’s a friend of the murdered teenager. She needs to face her owns demons and protect her son while finding herself in the middle of this case.

My Review

This was the first book I read by Peter Nichols and I loved it. It has been a while since I’ve read a thriller and this is exactly what I needed to get back into it. I loved the insight into all the characters. This had me guessing that just about everyone could have been the killer at one point or another.

Peter Nichols did a great job at giving you characters to root for. Seeing Alex go through the motions of the investigation and hoping he’ll find the killer and keep his family safe. I also really connected with Isabel’s character. Knowing the things she’s gone through and how Ethan is her whole life, I really wanted her to be able to protect him. The book showed great examples of mothers intuition and how important family is.

That is the end of my Granite Harbor By Peter Nichols book review. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to others who like psychological thrillers. If you read it be sure to let me know in the comments what you thought about it.
