To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before Book Series Review

The “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before” book series by Jenny Han was one of those books series that I couldn’t stop thinking about and constantly wanted to read. Therefore, it’s one of the fastest books I’ve ever read because I was so into it. In this post I will give you more information on the book and why I think you should read it too.

Author

Jenny Han is the author of this amazing series. For instance, it was surprising to find that out because she was also the author another one of my favorite book series called “The summer I Turned Pretty.” I read this book series in High School and as a result of loving it so much I read it again just a few months ago. She really has such a talent for creating these characters that you never want to let go of. I can easily say that these two book series are some of my all time favorite books so that just speaks to the kind of author she is.

Plot

This book centers around the main characters of Lara Jean Covey and Peter Kavinsky (played by Lana Condor and Noah Centineo in the movies.) The main story line in the book is that whenever Lara-Jean has an intense crush she writes a letter expressing her feelings then she hides the letter and never tells that boy so she can get over her crush. However, when the letters somehow get sent to each of the 5 recipients; one of them being her sisters ex-boyfriend, Lara Jean and Peter decide to have a mutually beneficial fake relationship. Fake relationships are not easy to maneuver so this makes for a great first book and is then followed by 2 more equally amazing books. Click here if you’re interested in purchasing on Amazon.

Movies

The first book has actually been made into a movie that was released on Netflix late in 2018. The movie really did take the world by storm. If you haven’t seen the movies yet I would suggest to read the books first. The second movie is also scheduled to release in February 2020 and the third movie has also just finished filming as well. I’m usually nervous when books I like are turned into movies but I think they did a really good job with this one. Specifically in the characters they cast for this movie. I really could not imagine anyone else playing the characters. They all fit so well and it’s nice to have the faces so clear in your mind when it comes to the books.

Quote

Book 1:
“Life doesn’t have to be so planned. Just roll with it and let it happen.”
“It’s not like in the movies. It’s better, because it’s real.”
Book 2:
“People come in and out of your life. For a time they are your world; they are everything. And then one day they’re not. There’s no telling how long you will have them near.”
“There’s a Korean word my grandma taught me. It’s called jung. It’s the connection between two people that can’t be severed, even when love turns to hate. You still have those old feelings for them, you can’t ever completely shake them loose of you; you will always have tenderness in your heart for them.”
Book 3:
“Is this how it goes? You fall in love, and nothing seems truly scary anymore, and life is one big possibility?”
“She always picked love; she always picked adventure. To her they were one and the same.”

So as you can tell by this review I absolutely loved the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before book series and would 100% recommend it because I’m just waiting until it’s an acceptable time to read them again haha.

  1. Great advice to read the books first…even if you see the film, they can’t possibly capture the writing with the same depth and characterization
